Leigh Ann Gale is a professional botanical artist, tutor and author. Her paintings include a wide range of subject matter, and each combines the traditional conventions of botanical accuracy with artistic appeal.
Over the years many of Leigh Ann’s paintings have been commissioned and exhibited and are reproduced as prints and greeting cards. Her artworks feature in botanical art collections as well as in books and manuals about botanical illustration, including her own. Between 2016 and 2025 she was commissioned by the Crowood Press to write about botanical illustration and her methods in three books, ‘Botanical Illustration – the complete guide’, ‘Colour for Botanical Artists and Illustrators’ and ‘Drawing and Painting Leaves’.
As a tutor, Leigh Ann is passionate about inspiring and educating others, and imparting her skills, knowledge, and expertise to students. She has become renowned for her encouraging and supportive approach to teaching students of all abilities and believes that all who have a passion to learn, can achieve their goals through dedication, patience and continued practice. Leigh Ann is skilled in tutoring on a one-to-one basis and teaching larger groups, classes and botanical art societies. She is an accomplished tutor and mentor for those following accredited courses and is highly regarded as an advisor on the subject of botanical art and illustration.
