These fascinating subjects will be the focus of this one day workshop. Coming in an amazing variety of sizes, shapes and colours, they are a popular choice for botanical artists. Create an illustration full of impact and vibrancy and maybe cut open to study the seeds inside.

THE HOLLY AND THE IVY
Suitable for all abilities

This will be a seasonally themed workshop giving you the opportunity to identify several species of holly and ivy and note their botanical differences in several drawings. Using several of your drawings, then create a composition to produce a personalised Christmas card to paint.

BOTANICAL ILLUSTRATION – AUTUMN AT LEONARDSLEE
Tuesday 18th October 2022
10 am – 4 pm
Suitable for all abilities

Focussing on the rich beauty and autumnal colour on offer at Leonardslee you will have an opportunity to draw and illustrate a variety of seasonal autumnal foliage, fruits, berries, seed pods, hips and haws which have been collected from the Gardens. With an emphasis on producing accurate initial drawings, you will then transfer your chosen drawing to specialist watercolour paper before using watercolours and/or coloured pencils to bring your illustration to life.

The workshop is suitable for all abilities and allows you the opportunity to work at your own pace. With plenty of help and guidance, including demonstrations during the workshop highlighting specific drawing and painting techniques suitable for the art of botanical illustration.

A break for lunch will be taken with afternoon tea (scones with cream and jam, a sandwich, a slice of cake and a tea or coffee per person).
